Oldtrucks.com has been online since December 13th 1998 and has made many great
improvements over the years. We first started off on a small server offering the "Readers Trucks",
"Big Rigs" and "Farm Finds" sections.
When we wanted to offer our readers online classifieds we were forced to upgrade servers and to seek
advertiser support through the banner system. All was going well, the site was growing and receiving an
increasing number of visitors. Then on Wednesday, Nov 15th 2000, we were added to
the Yahoo! search engine. This instantly doubled our traffic and flooded our email boxes with
readers questions and comments.
All was going well until our site started to get shut down because we were exceeding our daily server
usage. This forced us to look for a new server (which isn't the most enjoyable thing to do) that would
accommodate our bandwidth and server usage. We found a server that was reasonably priced and could handle
our new requirements. As it turned out, this server was worse than the old one, which resulted in the
"No Website Configured At This Address" error when you tried to access the site.
This began the search for yet another server. We once again switched servers and set up the site,
which went smoothly for once. The new server came online around March 10th 2002 and
everything was going great, people could access the site with no errors. It seems as if people missed
the site and wanted to look at every page we had, especially the classifieds. This used up a great
deal of bandwidth and forced us to start charging for classified ads to help cover the costs.
January 1st 2003, we added a discussion forum to help reduce the number of emails that
we receive each day. The idea of this is that readers can help other readers solve problems with their
trucks or just talk about trucks. We hope this will help everyone who enjoys old trucks and will inspire
people to restore older trucks (or cars) instead of sending them to the junk yards.
If you enjoy the resources provided on oldtrucks.com, such as the year identification, readers trucks,
farm finds etc. then please consider showing your support by donating to the site. This will help
us continue to be a quality source of information, resource and enjoyment for every truck enthusiast out
there. We are seeking donations because our advertiser support has declined in the past year and our costs
have risen substantially due to the popularity of the site.
Any donation is greatly appreciated, large or small. We understand that your truck can be a burden
at times, and if you can't donate, we hope that you will continue to visit oldtrucks.com. We wouldn't
be here if we didn't love the trucks too! If you can donate, please do so through our PayPal account
