1948-1960 Ford Trucks

For 1953-60 Fords, the VIN plate is attached to the rear face of the drivers door.

1956
This year the wraparound windshield was introduced to give reduce the blind spots. There was also a wraparound rear window sometimes called "the big back window", I'm not sure if this was an option or not because I know that they made them without the wraparound (If anyone knows more about the big back window please let me know). The grill was also redesigned and the head lights were now recessed. A Ford-O-Matic script was under the hood ordainment if the truck has an automatic transmission.

The 1957 trucks were totally restyled. The cab was totally redesigned which included, a new dash design, the elimination of running boards and the hood was now the full width of the truck. The new styleside box was introduced which had the sides of the box flush with the cab. The extruding fenders were no more. While they did keep the stepside box which was now called flareside as an option. The styleside box had a steel bed and the flareside kept with a wood bed.

This year you got to sit of a woven nylon saran upholstered seat with foam rubber padding. To reduce road noise sound deadening material was put in the cabs. The instrument paned and doors now received two tone paint. The diver now got an armrest on the door and the passenger was given a sun visor. Many things were also chromed this year such as, the horn button, grill, headlight bezels and windshield moldings. A custom cab emblem was located on each door. 1959 was also the first year Ford built a 4x4 pickup from the factory, not counting their contribution to WWII (GPW) all Ford 4x4's were a Marmon-Herrington conversion prior to 1959.
